Dundy County Hospital Expands Thanks to Donations

· In the News ·

According to a recent article published by 3 News Now, 29 of 71 rural hospitals in Nebraska are operating in the red due to several factors, declining populations, federal sequestration, and changes to medicaid/medicare under the Affordable Care Act. This puts many rural hospitals in danger of staying afloat, including Dundy County Hospital (DCH) in Benkelman, NE. However, DCH isn’t allowing their struggles to prevent them from operating. Thanks to local donations and support from the county, the hospital will continue to operate and plan a $3.8 million expansion project. Since the nearest hospital is 38 miles aware, this is great news for the residents around Benkelman.

A Patient Testimonial from Blair, NE

· In the News ·

A wonderful testimonial was shared with us after one of our providers, Dr. Kitchen, performed a total knee replacement at Memorial Community Hospital & Health System in Blair, NE. Great work to everyone involved to make this a successful experience for the patient.

“On May 28th I (the patient) had my left knee replaced at your hospital and I wanted to thank you and your staff for doing a great job! Starting with Dana McCabe my PA, her fore site got things going. Megan the surgery nurse, led me through Joint Camp and did a great job coordinating everybody involved. Dr. Steven Kitchen is an amazing surgeon and I can never express enough my gratitude for his skills.  Bruce Town, PA was always there to answer my never ending questions. The Surgery folks were all exceptional and always kept me informed about what I was going to do next. The nurses that looked over me always made sure I was comfortable (and brought me ice cream at nite !!). Ryan my Physical Therapist worked me over regularly and pushed me when I didn’t think  I could do more.

Thanks to you and your staff for an operation and recovery that far exceeded my expectations!!”
